Stop Drinking Soda's if YOU want to be Healthy!

Let's talk Soda's. Do you have soda in your daily diet? If you are trying to get fit and healthy, this choice will sabotage your goal.

Soda has an average of 10 teaspoons of sugar in a small size. That is a lot of sugar to put into the body at one time. It is 100% of your recommended daily amount. Many people have more than one soda in a day. Not good!

The Journal of American Medical Association suggests that there is a link between sugar sweetened sodas and diabetes. A new study published in January 2009 of the Diabetes Care, indicates that daily consumption of Diet Soda plays a key role in the development of type 2 diabetes, 67% greater risk. Astounding!

So anyway you look at it, regular or diet, it is a bad choice if you are choosing to be healthy. Here is what happens in your body after drinking a soda;

In the first 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% fo recommended daily intake) You don't immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.

20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into FAT.

40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate your blood pressure rises, as a response your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.

45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain . This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.

60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.

60 minutes: The caffeine's diuretic properties come into play. (It makes your have to pee.) It is now assured that you"ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.

60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you'll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and or sluggish. You've also now, literally, peed away all the water that was in the soda. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. So you tell me....was one soda worth all of that?

Type 2 Diabetes in children and adolescents has grown from less than 5 percent in 1994 to about 20 percent in the past few years. The Center for Disease Control recently made a stunning prediction that 1 in 3 children born in the United States in 2000 will likely develop type 2 diabetes sometime in their lifetime unless they exercise more and eat a healthier diet.

It has been stated that by removing one soda a day from your diet and not changing anything else, you can lose ten pounds in one year. Wow!

If you have made a choice to get healthy, fit, and lean, make the choice to remove soda's from your diet. If you have to have something carbonated, choose carbonated water and 1/3 juice. Much better choice!

Don't forget to exercise, eat healthy, and think healthy on this fabulous day!

Till tomorrow
